Welcome to the SAIT Travel and Tourism Egypt Blog.

The students are almost finished their studies at SAIT, finishing up the last presentations and studying for tests. In addition, the excitement is building for everyone going on the study tour to Egypt. The Calgary weather has improved helping up get into the mood for what is to come - weather in Egypt today - sunny, dry and 27 degrees. This will be a big adjustment from our cold and snowy winter.

For those of you wanting to follow our trip here is what is store for us:

April 24 - most of the group will depart on Lufthansa German Airlines bound for Cairo, via Frankfurt.
April 25 - arrival in Cairo. Get our visas and transfer to our hotel.
April 26 - a full day of touring, including the Egyptian Museum and on to the Great Pyramid of Giza. We will be taking an overnight coach to Aswan.
April 27 - today we will experience a true Egyptian form of transportation, a felucca on the Nile River, sailing around Elephantine Island and the Kitchener Islands. We will also visit a Nubian Village to learn of the lifestyles of the original inhabitants of this area.
April 28 - early morning departure to Abu Simbel to see the temple built by Ramesses II and the Temple of Hathor. An optional afternoon tour will depart for the Aswan High Dam and Temple of Isis.
April 29 - today we depart Aswan for Luxor to see the Temple of Karnak and Temple of Luxor. That evening some of the group may choose to see the evening Sound and Light Show at Karnak Temple.
April 30 - another day in Luxor with a visit to the Valley of the Kings. Some of the students are hoping to take a hot air balloon trip over the Valley of the Kings - a once in a lifetime opportunity.
May 1 - our destination today is the Red Sea and the resort city of Hurghada.
May 2 - a day for rest, relaxation, a snorkel trip or a camel ride - take your pick!
May 3 - we leave Hurghada travelling back to Cairo.
May 4 - our day will be filled with visits to the Step Pyramid, the Coptic area of Cairo and a stop at the Khan el Khallili market for some last minute shopping.
May 5 - our itinerary reads that we have to get up at about 1:30 AM to transfer to the airport. I suspect some will just choose to stay up on our last night in Cairo! Some of our group will be continuing with their next adventure, either in Egypt or Europe. The rest of us look forward to seeing everyone when we arrive home at 11:35 AM on May 5th!
